Who are we?
Hoshindo Karate is a local non-profit Adelaide Karate club, training in the traditional Goju Ryu style of karate, suitable for all ages and fitness levels.
All classes are taught by enthusiastic JKF Goju Kai graded black belt instructors, with active links to Japan.
Most importantly, get fit and have fun at Hoshindo in a safe and friendly environment, without getting hurt.
First two classes are free!!
Community Focus
At Hoshindo, we are more than just a karate club, but a community. All our classes are non-for-profit, and always welcome anyone to join and have fun.
Being a martial art, karate exercises both the body and mind, with great outcomes such as personal growth, fitness and flexibility. But while everyone will have their own reasons to start, one thing remains certain;
Karate can be enjoyed by all!
We treasure our continually growing karate family, with members from all different backgrounds and ages - there are no limits!
Traditional,
Authentic, Goju Ryu Karate
Hoshindo is part of the Seiwakai Goju Ryu Karate-Do organisation, which is one of the members of the Japan Karate Federation (JKF) Goju Kai.
We train at a professional standard of Goju Ryu Karate, remaining true to the traditional and authentic teachings of Seiwakai and the JKF.
With such learning and upskilling involved, we are fortunate in our opportunities to join JKF seminars, training camps, and workshops beyond Hoshindo, that are hosted locally, interstate and, in Japan, to update our training knowledge and regime.
All senior gradings, from brown to first black belt (Shodan) and above are also all assessed by Senior Senseis and Shihan of Seiwakai and JKF.
The Journey to Black Belt
Training in karate will always give back what you put in. While it will always take determination, passion and effort, progressing in the path of self development, is a continuous reward and satisfaction.
You will learn to develop skills, fitness, and strength, and the mental resilience and focus which will aid in all aspects of life.
As you journey through the grades, you will learn fundamental karate technique through kata and ido-kihon (set routine / pattern of movements) and apply them through partner drills and kumite (sparring.)
Hoshindo partake in the JKF and Seiwakai seminars to learn from senior instructors on how to improve and teach karate in Hoshindo. These seminars are also where our students and instructors also take their JKF and Seiwakai black belt gradings. (Become Internationally / Japan recognised as a black belt!)
Of course, maybe black belt isn't your ultimate objective - and that's ok! Everyone has their own journey, and we are open for all.
There's always a tournament around the corner you can compete in if that peaks your fancy too.
